A general perception prevailing across the country
emphasizes on ‘no one should be left out of education campaign running across
the country’. But there is a glaring gap between mission, motive and reality.
As of now only those sections of the society is part of
education spree which has tasted the fruits of freedom in the true sense. This
can be easily experienced in those regions where technological advancement is
yet to reach.
The places which are struggling to get the basic
amenities are yet to take part in the broader development agendas of all
governments in which education becomes an important subject. To fill this gap
NGOs are playing inevitable role.
NGOs situated in Delhi NCR are especially working
tirelessly to help poor children get educated. They are also fighting several
battles to put a final full stop on child labor. There are some specific NGOsworking for child labor only. They have succeeded in making this issue a
prominent one, to be discussed in important forums.
The situation of children is so pathetic that it needs
immediate attention. And to improve this only one solution is there and that is
to educate them. Just recall the words of Nelson Mandela who once said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to
change the world.”
And to use this weapon well another important quote
comes in the mind which needs to be mentioned here. Brigham Young-“You educate a man; you educate a man.
You educate a woman; you educate a generation.”
Child labor and the education of poor children needs years of constant efforts and even in this mission, larger emphasis should be given on supporting girl’s education which will have long term positive impact.
Let’s help NGOs for child labor. Let’s pledge to support girls
education and to those who are working in this mission. This will improve the
prevailing situation and if you still feel shy of doing this, remain ready for
worse days to face, because a nation can’t progress if its major portion
remains out of this campaign.
